Elementary String Program
The elementary string program offers classes to students in grades 4, 5 and 6. Eleven string educators travel on music circuits to deliver this fantastic and free program. Students learn solid foundational knowledge of the violin or cello. They perform in their local school concerts, and the grade six students participate in four orchestra workshop days where they get the chance to try the viola and bass. What is the cost for this program? The program is offered free of charge, however the students must rent or buy an instrument. There are provisions in place for families that are in need of assistance, so everyone is welcome. Students MOST OFTEN participate in two one hour group lessons each week. One is during school time and one is outside of school time.
Junior and Senior High String Program
Students can progress from elementary to junior and senior high in the string program. We offer several junior high orchestras, as well as all city classes in bass, cello, violin and viola. Students in junior high school receive lessons outside of school time. Students in senior high school are offered the opportunity to take strings as a credit course that counts as a fine arts credit towards their graduation diploma.
